Horseback Riding Arenal (La Fortuna)
One of the most popular attractions in Costa Rica is La Fortuna Waterfall. Instead of driving, we got to ride in style to the falls. We rode with Chaves Tours Horseback Riding Arenal. The ride from town to the falls is beautiful. If you’re lucky, you may be able to spot some monkeys or sloths. Although, it’s not the best idea for people who aren’t very comfortable riding horses as there are several steep parts, including some riding on the road. The horse’s back legs slipped out a few times but with a good grip we were able to hang on.Â
But the highlight of our ride was the beautiful, 246 foot tall waterfall! There are around 500 steps down to the base of the falls, which means there are 500 steps back to the top too! This falls allows you to swim in the water, although not under the falls. Even swimming on the edge of the pool, it is crazy feeling the power of the falls! The water is cold, but definitely worth a quick swim!
