When I think of cities we’ve visited around the world, one of the most beautiful and iconic cities I can think of is Cape Town, South Africa. With the towering Table Mountain, stunning beach towns, and world famous soccer stadium, there is no denying Cape Town’s beauty. We wanted to make sure we got the best view of this incredible city so we decided to take a Cape Town helicopter tour with Cape Town Helicopters.
From winery flights to a full peninsula tour, Cape Town Helicopters offers several different aerial tours around the city. Cape Town Helicopters is the #1 rated helicopter company in the city! Safety is the company’s first priority. From the time we arrived to when we exited the helicopter they did a great job to make sure we felt completely safe. On top of safety, Cape Town Helicopters prides themselves in being an eco-friendly helicopter company. They have purchased industry leading Airbus Helicopters that are a more eco-friendly way to fly. Compared to our other helicopter experiences, all of the equipment seemed to be top-of-the-line. The takeoff location is right in V&A Waterfront, one of the most popular tourist areas in the city! It was great being able to leave directly from this area instead of having to arrange for transportation to a further away location.Â
After receiving our safety instructions, we loaded into the helicopter and took off for the best views of the city. The helicopter ride definitely did not disappoint! Within a few minutes of leaving the ground, we had a picture perfect postcard view of the city. In the foreground we could see the iconic Cape Town Stadium which became world famous during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In front of the stadium we could see the ocean lapping up to the shores of the beachfront neighborhoods below. For the backdrop of the city stands Table Mountain. It is a massive, sheer cliff wall that the main part of the city is built around. On the other side of us was the infamous Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. We continued on down the coastline and around Table Mountain. On the other side of the mountain we flew over the Constantia wine area before heading back to the landing area.Â
A helicopter tour is definitely the best way to see the city! Everywhere we looked was just as pretty as the last view. We couldn’t stop snapping photos of the views below. Our helicopter pilot did a great job of pointing out the city’s attractions and making the entire flight a highlight of our trip!
